Next Goal Wins
It took 4 years to design, build, fundraise, and ship my first board game.
What started out as a pen-and-paper prototype eventually turned into a fully-fledged competitive tabletop board game. And though the learning curve was steep - there’s something magical about shipping your first project as a Game Designer. And so - Next Goal Wins was born!
Along with my brothers, I spent hours, days, and weeks tinkering with stats in spreadsheets to decide which players had 5-star shooting and how many special abilities we could add.
Not to mention the months of back and forth with artists and UX designers to figure out how to translate the design system in my head into something intuitive for the players.
And who could forget the year of negotiation with our manufacturer over dice sizes, card stock, and safety requirements?
But all the hard work paid off in the form of amazing feedback at games expos, being featured in 442 magazine and finally hitting that funding goal on Kickstarter.
You never how much work goes into indie game development until you to take it on yourself!

I couldn’t have done it all without my amazing team of brothers, best friends, partners of best friends, my own videographer wife, all my graphic and UX design friends, and all the talented artists and experts who helped us along the way.
Oh, and the many MANY testers! If you’re in any way acquainted with me it’s pretty much inevitable that you’ll end up being a lab rat for at least one of my product ideas!
